Putting Tax Prep Software to the Test
While a reported 60 percent of taxpayers use a paid preparer to complete their tax returns, there are still many individual filers who prepare their own returns using tax prep software. In two separate instances in 2006, tax courts ruled against filers who tried to blame their erroneous returns on the software they used.   (more...)

Tax Tip Hotline

The Georgia Association of Enrolled Agents is the organization of and for Enrolled Agents. The principal concern of the Association and its members is honest, intelligent and ethical representation of the financial position of taxpayers before governmental agencies. Members of GAEA are required to complete a minimum of 30 hours of continuing professional education each year in the interpretation, application and administration of federal and state tax laws in order to maintain membership in the organization. This requirement surpasses the IRS' required minimum of 16 hours per year.

Enrolled Agents

Enrolled Agents (EAs) are professional tax practitioners who have technical expertise in the field of taxation and are licensed to represent taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service at all administrative levels. In addition, EAs are the only tax practioners required by federal law to maintain their expertise through continuing professional education.
